I was listening to NPR’s Talk of the Nation – Science Friday and the first segment was about ‘Wind Power.’ Someone made a comment about wind turbines being “…giant Cuisinarts for birds.” The comment struck me as a little odd, but I could see their point. It also made me wonder would these same people say that we should stop air travel since birds are killed when they are sucked into jet turbines or smack off the airplane’s body.

This also sparked off a conversation between , and myself. We talked about birds and bats. Making a point about bats’ take-off limitations, a tongue-tied said:

Flats can’t take-off from bat ground.

We all got a good laugh out of it.
