Friday (coda)
I’m just getting in from my company’s Winter Party.
The whole affair was quite nice. It was held at the Summit Resort in The Canyons.

People.
Drinks (with alcohol, even!).
Dinner.
Speeches.

Our CEO’s speech was good. He used an analogy to football to make his point.

The keynote speaker, however, was great. They said that it was someone named “Frank,” and that they had a video presentation to use as his introduction. It was the trailer from Stephen Speilberg’s Catch Me If You Can. At that point, I knew – but refused to believe – who it was. The trailer ended and they introduced the speaker.

Frank Abagnale.

He talked about his life. His crimes. His time in French, Swedish and American Prisons. His life working for the government since then – for the past 32 years. His family. It was far from a “dry” or formulaic speech. It was rousing, moving… and inspiring. After his talk, he fielded questions with candor and a light, open manner.

It was simply amazing.

After the party was over, I got to shake his hand and thank him for his time and his speech.

Wow.
