Friday
Today was a good day. It started off with Outkast’s The Way You Move. It’s hard not to start out on a good foot with that in the background. And, it was Friday. In fact, not even the losing 4 hours’ worth of work due to a system lockup killed the mood. It was that good of a day. To wrap up it up, we got together with the usual suspects and (and his nephew) for coffee, chat, people-watching and the putting of pencil to paper.

As an added bonus, I called Bret this afternoon and we talked for thirty minutes or so. Things seem to be well in his corner of the cosmos. It was good to catch up with him. I need to make a few more calls to other friends with whom I haven’t spoken in a while.

Stray Toasters

  • A hearty “Welcome back” to the long-silent .
  • “You can rent clothes there!?!”
    (Yes, this still amazes me.)

  • I just started Winamp. I’m shuffling through the playlist and these songs came up, back-to-back: Berlin’s Take My Breath Away and an a cappella version of Every Breath You Take. (I’d make a joke about Synchronicity, but that would be bad.)
  • Congrats to Maddox for getting a nod on the Phil Hendrie Show.
  • Ob La Di, Ob La Da
  • Drowning Pool -best known for the song Bodies– is back, with a new lead singer. “Let the bodies hit the floor,” indeed. (Story here)
  • By way of , I give you this
  • On the way home from work, I saw a few planes lining up in their approach pattern. There’s something… “fun”… in watching planes taking off and landing. It appeals to my inner kid; I remember watching planes take off from the observation gallery at BWI, many rains ago. And, there’s the fact that I like watching trains, too. And they don’t even take off or land.
  • They bear the cross of Coeur de Leon
    Salvation for the mirror blind

  • : Click here and scroll down.
  • I don’t know if anyone else will remember The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, but if you do, check out Beta Mountain. Oh, what the Hell… even if you don’t remember it, take a look.
  • In case you hadn’t heard: As of 09 April 04, Gateway will be closing their Gateway Country retail outlets. If you’re looking for a new laptop, now might be the time to wander in to the store nearest you; they are having a clearance sale.

Poll of the Day

Thursday
Today was a good day. It was grey, cool/cold, overcast and rainy. And it was a good day. Could it be because I started the day listening to MC Hammer’s Greatest Hits? Yes, I admit that freely; I don’t really have any music in my library that I’m ashamed of. Not even the Barry Manilow (Copacabana) or Culture Club (various things from Colour by Numbers) mp3s.

But, I digress…

Nothing like starting the day with a little You Can’t Touch This, 2 Legit 2 Quit with a side serving of Turn This Mutha Out… and a little Addams Groove , on the side. Mm-hmm! That’s right!

As I said: It was a good day. I even got to see the rare and elusive .

Stray Toasters

  • Hullo and welcome to .
  • Thanks to for forwarding along this origami site
  • …although I began to worry about her sanity after she sent a link this site (not worksafe). Amusing… in a geeky/disturbing kind of way.
  • I need to “reassemble” my software binder. My necessary/critical CDs are in too many places.
  • Bratstreet. ‘Nuff said.
  • By way of Campbell’s Condensed Newspaper: Spy Letters of the American Revolution
  • Batman: The Animated Series paved the way for a number of highly-successful cartoons that are on the air today. The animation quality was top-notch. The voice casting was good. And the writing was excellent; take a look at some of the quotes, gleaned from IMDb. (And yes, Nizlee, that was Ron Perlman.)
  • What I Do on Saturday (video)
  • The NicoDerm smoking patch.
    The Ortho Evra contraception patch.
    And now… CaffeDerm® Patch

  • Nerve.com
  • I haven’t mentioned it in a while, but Maddox usually manages to put a smile on my face. Today was no exception.
  • H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A

…and to all, a good night!

Namaste.

Wednesday
It’s been a beautiful day outside.
And my mood has been rather good, as well.
Coincidence? Most likely, but I’ll take it.

I was about ready to kick SprintPCS squarely in their virtual ‘nads this morning, but a quick call (actually two calls, since the first one “dropped”) rectified matters and kept me from making a trip to Kansas City with murderous deeds in mind.

Once you have decided on a killing
First you make a stone of your heart
If you find that your hands are still willing
Then you can turn a murder into art…

-“Murder By Numbers” – The Police

I spent the evening in the company of , and at what is steadily becoming “Cheers North.” Social interaction is good. Especially when drawing and/or people-watching is involved. And caffeinated beverages. Can’t forget the caffeine. Selah.

Stray Toasters

  • I haven’t said anything about it in a while, but A Whiter Shade of Pale is a great song.
  • E-file = GOOOD!!! ::: gesture :::
  • It’s amazing that when you are looking for something, no matter how long you search, you always find it in the last place you look. Of course, if you kept looking for it after you found it, people would wonder about your sanity. (Unless Chthulu was involved. In that case, everyone would just nod and smile knowingly…)
  • Moustaches and glasses “drawn” on the WHR characters. Just another sign that it’s April Fool’s Day at Adult Swim.
  • The Batman Begins Batmobile
  • In your satin tight, fighting for your rights and the old Red, White and Blue!
I’m a little worried that I didn’t even have to look up those lyrics.

  • Sissy (whom we have jokingly given the middle name “Piddler”) seems to be pretty much back to normal. Whatever bladder/UTI infection that she had seems to be gone. Thankfully.
  • Have you ever wanted to make origami versions of classic Japanese monsters? Come on, you know that it’s crossed your mind at least once. Well, now you can, thanks to Origami Kaiju.
  • Musicology, from Prince. Yes, “that” Prince.
