“The counter-revolution at the counter of a store, people buy the things they want and borrow for a little more…”
everyday glory October 13th, 2001Tis finally the end-of-the-week. Today:
- Gym.
- Work (6 hours, just wanted to start the weekend ASAP).
- Side trip to Borders and Jos. A Bank (men’s clothing store).
- Dinner for two at the Macaroni Grill.
- Home.
And that, as they say, is that.
I can tell that I was in geek mode tonight: I watched 2-1/2 hours of Star Trek TV. I’m not sure if I should be worried yet. On the one hand: I enjoyed them (1/2 hour of Voyager and then DS-9 and Enterprise), and all were eps that I hadn’t seen. On the OTHER hand: it WAS 2-1/2 hours of ‘Trek. If I collected comic books and played video games, then I would know that my journey into geekdom was complete.
Uh-oh.
I also had an interesting experience on IRC. I was talking with a few people in an open-forum channel and found out that one of the people with whom I was chatting works for the same (relatively small) department store chain that I did; I haven’t been with that store for seven years now. When I worked for them, it was in their newest (at that time) store, number 36; this person works in one of the newer stores, number 227. To quote my high school physics teacher,”It’s just so bizarre!” To think that in seven years the company has grown to roughly seven times its size. Yeah, “bizarre” is a good word for it.
Peace.
