Monday – 30 May 2007
And so, another week begins.

Fortunately, it’s a short week… and a week that will end with me on the Right Coast – Kris (Sib3) graduates from law school this weekend.  Of course, that also means that it will be a busy weekend.  Oh, well… no rest for the wicked.

Yesterday, I made it to the second game of Patryck’s double-header.  The umpire was ludicrously inconsistent with his calls – one pitch would be a ball; another, in the same spot would be a strike.  It wasn’t pretty.  But, Patryck’s team won, so I guess that’s all that really matters in the long run.  After that, I stopped in to see and Matt.  Enchiladas!  Homemade enchiladas, at that!  TASTY homemade enchiladas, even.  Then, home to take care of a few things… including making a mess of my kitchen, because it’s much better to pour rice all over the stove and floor than into the pot of near-boiling broth.  *sigh*

“Sundown”

It’s both the name of a Gordon Lightfoot song and today’s episode of Legion of Super Heroes. But, since this is my blog – and it’s a Saturday morning – it’s a fair bet that this post will have very little to do with the song (even though it is a pretty decent song).

This was the first of a two-part episode. It opened strongly, with the Legion taking on the Fatal Five… and getting trounced. While newly-elected leader Bouncing Boy is still reeling from this, an emergency alert is broadcast: The Legion is called to a weapons depot to keep a weapon from being released. No one, not even the guards, know what the weapon is; they just know that it can’t get out. The LSH arrives on the scene and searches for the weapon – which is trying to break free of the facility. Artificial intelligence, go figure. After the weapon goes a couple of rounds with various Legionnaires, Brainiac 5 identifies it: A sun-eater. The sun-eater breaks free and begins a journey towards a nearby star to feed. One problem: It’s a red star, meaning that Superman will be powerless. Undaunted, the LSH pursues and takes on the sun-eater again. The fight was well-choreographed and the characterizations were pretty solid, too. We also got to see Sun Boy in action – for the first time that I’m aware of.

The conclusion airs next week; the previews show a LOT of LSH-related characters engaging the even more-power sun-eater.

As long-time Legion fans know, the sun-eater crisis also involved the death of a Legionnaire: Ferro Lad. In the original comic story, Superboy was going sacrifice himself to detonate a bomb in the sun-eater’s core. He was subdued by Ferro Lad, who carried the bomb to the sun-eater. I will be interested to see if the next episode follows through with this and, if so, how they will treat it.

Long Live the Legion!

Wednesday: coda
I spent more time than I really care to admit trying to bend the Wireless Network Connection settings in MicroSquish Vista to my will… and that of ‘s network.  I swear, setting that thing up was like going around your ass to scratch your nose.  I finally got it set up… I think.  Of course, I thought that I had it set up once… and it wound up dropping the connection a short while later.  *braincramp*   I need to take some time and tinker with Vista more.  But it will be a long while before it winds up on any of my boxes as the standard OS.  I may be getting a chocolate cake out of the deal, too.  That ain’t bad.

After Vista-aerobics, I hung out with Liz for coffee.  Unfortunately, B&B was closed so I had to fall back on one of the local embassies of the Seattle Coffee Empire.  Beggars.  Choosers.
Thursday is the last day of Suit Week… because we can’t justify suits on Friday.  Not that we really need to justify them, but we’re talking Friday.  If ever there was a “not a suit day” day, it’s Friday.  So, to cap off Suit Week: Tuxedos.  And, we even talked one of our other coworkers into joining us.  Yowza!

Tuesday – 23 April 2007
So far, it hasn’t been a bad morning. When the alarm went off, I was up… hit the deck… made it into the kitchen and started my coffee…

…and then went back to the bedroom and laid back down.

The alarm on the iPod – set to music – went off a few minutes later. I listened to it as I faded in and out of sleep for the next forty-five minutes. I got up, observed the hygiene rituals, ironed my shirt, took out the trash, grabbed my gear and headed out.

I had to take some equipment to the north office before making my way to A.F. While there, I talked with , who suggested that I check out two of the stop signs near the parking deck before I left. He said that it would be worth my time. When I got there, this is what I found: 1, 2. Definitely worth it. Then I was on the road.

Along the way, I discovered a new form of road monkey: The PoW monkey. “PoW” being short for “Piece of Work.” I was fortunate enough to see two of them this morning! Both within… a half-mile to a mile of each other. I was coming up the north face of Traverse Mountain when I encountered the first one – a lady in the fast lane… on her cell phone… not looking out the windshied… going about 59 MPH. Did I mention that she was in the fast lane? I did? Okay. She was completely oblivious to the line of cars stacked up behind her. That must have been one HELL of a conversation. A number of us passed her, on the right – we couldn’t get around her fast enough. The second PoW monkey was driving some large, boat-sized car. Also in the fast lane. Also oblivious. This monkey was an older gentleman, so I was willing to cut him a little more slack. Just a little, though.

It’s Day Two of Suit Week. Today’s choice:

  • Olive double-breasted suit
  • Cream and white cotton/poly blend shirt, long-point collar
  • Olive, brown and gold abstract tie
  • Tan woven leather tassel loafers.

Brett’s looking rather dapper in a rather nice black-and-white Glen Plaid single-breasted suit, with a black shirt. Once again, there were more comments from coworkers. Although, there have been fewer “Where’s your interview” comments and more “You guys look nice” or “You guys are making us look bad” ones.

Sunday: coda
I need more time on the driving range.

It’s not so much a matter of feeding the newfound addiction as it is that I don’t want to injure, maim or kill anyone.

Out of the 100 balls that I had (105, if you count the one’s gave me out of his bucket), I managed to – somehow – hit four or five of the balls behind me.  Into the area where spectators stand.  With a good amount of force.  While physics and I aren’t necessarily on hanging out terms, we have come to terms and I do have a basic understanding of forces and vectors.  Although, to have seen those balls, you would not have known it.

Despite this, I had a fun time.  I hit a few solid drives.  And a lot of ground-skimmers.

After our time on the live ammunition obstacle course… I mean “driving range,” , Chris and I went to lunch.  Mimi’s Cafe.

After a good afternoon out, it was time hit the mean streets Paragon City.

I was invited to join a team with an old teammate.  After that team broke up, I was invited to join another team.  All in all, it was a productive patrol: I hit Security Level 24… and made it a few bubbles in the direction of Level 25.

Saturday – 21 April 2007
This morning started off with “Chain of Command,” today’s episode of Legion of Super Heroes.

In it, Winath – home planet of Legionnaire Lightning Lad – was experiencing severe storms due to a malfunction of their environmental control system.  In comes the Legion to try and avert disaster.  Naturally, the Legion’s resident spark plug was a bit anxious about this mission.  And then, there was yet another monkey wrench thrown into the works: Cosmic Boy, the Legion’s leader, who had been absent from the team for months, showed up.  Not only that, he brought with him a new recruit: Ferro Lad.  Needless to say, Lightning Lad – who had been acting as the “field leader” for the Legion in Cos’ absence – reacted badly to this double whammy.

The episode wasn’t bad… but I wasn’t happy with their portrayal of Lightning Lad.  He, Cos and Saturn Girl are the three founding members of the Legion.  They’ve been friends since before there was a Legion.  (Granted, it was very shortly before there was a Legion, but that’s not the point…)   His attitude towards Cos was downright antagonistic, which was out of character for him.  But, it did work for the story… to a point.  Also, Cosmic Boy was a bit more… overbearing than I’m used to.  Well, with the possible exception of the v5 Cos (in the current Waid/Kitson version of the Legion).
Other highlights of the episode include:

  • Colossal Boy and Cosmic Boy’s exchange:  “Hey, CB-1.”   “Hey, CB-2.”  *high fives*
  • Ferro Lad’s comment: “I’m doing you a favor.  You don’t want to see what’s behind this mask.”
  • Superman (sorry… it really should be “Superboy”) starting to act more… mature.  Which isn’t to say that he hasn’t been written that way before; but there was a moment in the episode where he had been struck down and, after a short respite, put on his “I have to get back in the game” face… and took off.

But, the real stand-out in this episode was Bouncing Boy.  Yeah, I said “Bouncing Boy.”  Long looked at as a secondary character or one who could easily be brushed aside, he actually stepped up and made some noise in this episode.  Even in the various four-color series, he was usually just… there.  Sure, he and Duo Damsel ran the Legion Academy after they resigned from active duty, but he was never really an A-lister.  I was pleasantly surprised with his characterization in this episode and it should be interesting to see how they develop it in the future.

On the whole, I give this episode a thumbs-up.

Friday – 20 April 2007
And, since it’s 4-20, let’s get this out of the way now…

And, with that out of the way…

Last night, I had to return to Fiddler’s Elbow. Why? Because I had apparently been double-charged… no, triple-charged for dinner the other night. So, I went to clear things up. The manager was shocked, to say the least, but she found the problem and explained what she thought had happened. However, there’s really nothing that can be done until the charge tries to clear my bank — which she explained should go through with the proper amount. All I can do now is wait and see. It was a little irritating – and a bit inconvenient – but nothing bad enough to throw off the NBN part of Thursday.

After that, all I wanted to do was go home. And, I did. I ordered a pizza and tried to figure out what to do with the rest of the evening, since CSI: was a repeat. to the rescue! She had picked up the second season of The West Wing from the library, so she brought it over and we watched a couple episodes. That was such a good show; it’s too bad that Aaron Sorkin wasn’t there for the end – I would be interested to see how it would have been different had be been there.

The Scales of Justice
Post-Wing, The Hand of Nefer-Tem took to the streets of Paragon City.

After a little aimless wandering, and a conversation with VikingPrincess, I was invited to join a team. A team on which no one had any missions, except me. So… we ran my mission. It was tied into the last story arc (find the missing Kheldians)… but this time, we were up against The Council. We died. A few times. But, we did complete the mission.

Thursday – 19 April 2007
So far, the day’s been good.

I woke up… and realized that there was no need for me to rush to get ready and out the door.  So, I didn’t.  It was nice.  And, I was still in the SLC office a little after 8:30.  I opted to wait until I got to the office before thinning out the blood in my caffeinestream.  Irish Creme coffee.  Tasty.

Last night, it snowed.  Again.  Nothing really stuck in the valley, but… it was still snow.  I called Dad to tell him that it was snowing.  Again.  When he stopped laughing, he made his usual request:  That I enjoy the snow, but not to feel under any obligation to send it eastward.  I went to Borders to try and polish off my latest drawing.  The theory was sound, but the practical application was lacking one thing – a picture that I had intended to use as a reference for the last part of the drawing.  *ARGH*  So, I did what I could and then just… sketched a couple of other things.

Wednesday – 18 April 2007
Yesterday, I left work a little later than I had planned.  It happens.  I had to come home because, in all of my brilliance, I neglected to consider the benefits of taking a pair of jeans to work with me.  Home.  Changed.  Off on [my] way, hit the open road… and made my way to the driving range.  , onlyaly and Chris were already there.  I didn’t do so well with the 2-iron.  The 5-iron was… okay, as was the 7-iron.  My trusty 5-wood was, once again, my best friend.

And, I finally got to test drive my 1-wood/driver.  Sweet monkey-squeezin’ Jesus…!  When I managed to pull off a good swing and make a solid connection, the ball moved.  Nicely.  I still need to get a bit of practice in with it – this was the first range I’ve been on that allowed the use of a driver.  But, I can see that I’m going to enjoy using that club.

After the range, onlyaly, and I headed to Fiddler’s Elbow for dinner.  I don’t think that I’ve been there since I lived in – or shortly after I moved out of – Sugar House.  Nice place.  I’ll have to keep it on the “Places to Remember for Lunch/Dinner” List.  Good dinner and conversation.

After dinner, I met my friend, Emily – whom I haven’t seen in a proverbial month of Sundays – for coffee.  And then home again, home again.  Jiggety-jig.

I, very unintentionally, slept in this morning.  Apparently, Saturday night’s lack of sleep, coupled with Sunday morning’s early awakening, caught up with me.  Sleep Hard: With a Vengeance (coming soon to a theatre near you!)  The rest of the day was cake.  Aside from the road monkeys, there were no other monkey antics in the day.  I consider that a plus.

After work, I met at ‘ders.  I thought about starting a new drawing, but I didn’t have anything in mind to work on.  So, I thumbed through magazines.  I also found a plethora of interesting links that I want to explore.  And, I think that I have a couple of lyric-to-drawing ideas.  I need to give them some consideration.

And, of course, I watched the Jack Bauer show.  *beep*…*beep*…*beep*…*beep*… (fade to black)

  • I had far more fun on the driving range than I think should be allowed.  Especially since my swing and accuracy are very inconsistent.  Very.  After whacking a few golf balls down the range, I tried my hand at the putting green.  There were no windmills or clown faces, but it still was not a piece of cake.  At one point, I tried a long putt.  While I was lining up my shot, I had an image of Electronic Arts’ PGA Tour Golf (for the SEGA Genesis, of course) putting green, with hash marks and lines denoting the lie of the green.  It made me laugh.  (Sidebar: I didn’t know that EA had acquired a company in the SLC area.  Apparently, they did it last year.)

    “You sank my battleship!”

comics and animation, everyday glory, games, music No Comments »

    Saturday – 07 April 2007
Trying out Axis & Allies: War at Sea yesterday was fun. I played an Allied fleet, comprised of:

Chris used a mixed Axis fleet, with four ships and a squadron of planes. We didn’t fight a historical battle, instead we fought for three objective points. I took out his planes, which happened to be bombers, in my first attack. He retaliated by taking out the Baltimore and Javelin in his next couple attacks. That’s not what one would consider a very auspicious start… even for a beginner. I was left with the Rodney and the planes. Against a battleship, a cruiser, an aircraft carrier, and a destroyer (I think). The carrier couldn’t really do any damage to me, so it was a bit of a non-factor. The rest of the fleet could be… troublesome. Fortunately, I the Luck Lords of Ventura were apparently with me: I wound up destroying the three main ships while his carrier hid behind an island.

Clitorati was good. I couldn’t get my head into drawing last night, so it was all about the socializing. Both and Ms. onlyaly made quote-worthy comments. I don’t think I’ll post the former… and I can’t remember the latter.  The crossword in this week’s City Weekly gave me a bit of a problem.  More specifically, the clue “donut like” was the primary antagonist.  I couldn’t figure out what 7-letter answer they wanted.   I had “OS_APED” staring me in the face for the longest time before I sussed out that it was supposed to be “OSHAPED.”  As in “O-shaped.”  As in “shaped like an O,” which most donuts are.  *sigh*  I’m a genius.
Last night, after Clitorati and trying to play a little CoH (detailed below), I hit the rack around… 1:30 or 2:00. And was awake at 4-something. And 7:00. Sharp. And a little after 8:00. And a little before 9:00. I hope that’s not an augury of how the rest of the day is going to be.

This morning, I watched the rebroadcast of “Lightning Storm” on today’s Legion of Super Heroes. I noticed something in the Legion tryouts that I had missed the first time: Fire Lad, Polar Boy and Night Girl – all members of the Legion of Substitute Heroes – were there.

After getting home last night, I decided to go on patrol in Paragon City. I joined a team with a couple members of my Super Group and we took on The Freakshow. It was a little tough, we could have used some backup… but we did alright.

Until we got to the second floor of the building.

    Then, two things happened:

    1. We started getting our butts kicked. Repeatedly. Badly. Painfully.
    2. Two of us started nodding off… in the middle of fights.

That’s not exactly a good combination. So, we scrubbed the mission. And I went to bed.

    Thursday – 05 April 2007
Another bright, sunny day in the valleys of the Land of Zion.  I actually got more than a couple hours’ sleep last night, which definitely comes under the heading of “a good thing.”  Getting up and out the door wasn’t too much of an ordeal, either.  The road monkeys weren’t flinging poo.  And, the path to caffeination zen has been a smooth one.  Not a bad way to kick off a Thursday, I must say.

On the way home, last night, I picked up my weekly dose of four-color crack – more on that below. Then, I headed home to decide how best to spend the evening.  Apparently, that translated into “Take a forty-minute nap.”  I can’t say that it wasn’t needed.  I also needed to eat.  Post-nap, and I went to Fascist Place to assault the food court.  (I never said that I wanted something “good for me.”)  Then, we wandered around the mall.  Here’s a question for those of you who are familiar with See’s Candy: Does anyone remember a candy that they (used to) sell that fits this description:

    • Chocolate base, about 1″ square
    • A thin layer of marshmallow on top of the chocolate
    • A green mint “jelly” on top of the marshmallow

Someone sent me a box of them many, many rains ago… but I haven’t seen them since.  I seem to recall that they arrived somewhere around Easter, or at least in Spring.  If anyone remembers this candy and/or knows what they were called, I’d appreciate any information on it.  Thanks.

After the mall, it was off to Borders.  I really wanted to finish the drawing that I’ve been working on.  And I did.  Finally.  It’s not necessarily a masterpiece, but I’m happy with the way it turned out.  I was going to scan a picture of it last night… but that didn’t happen.  I’ll try to get to it tonight.

    Four-Color Coverage
As I mentioned above, I picked up this week’s offerings from my local comics emporium.  I don’t know what happened or who kicked people in the pants, but the books this week were all pretty good… even the one title that I wasn’t planning getting – Avengers: The Initiative, a Civil Bore aftermath title – was good.  Here’s this week’s breakdown:

    • 52: Week Forty-Eight – This was a Renee Montoya issue.  She finally comes into her own as the new Question.  We all knew that it was coming, but it’s been interesting to watch as she came to realize – and accept – that she the fact.
    • Avengers: The Initiative #1 – What happens when the U.S. Government decides to license and train metahumans to use their powers safely and effectively?  And give them a chance to step up and be part of the senior team?  You find out here.  That’s right…. welcome to The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.  Wait… wrong book.  Welcome to Camp Hammond.  Okay, there we are.  It’s not all fun and games, though.  Instead, think: “superhuman boot camp,” and you’ll get the idea.  There was even a Starship Troopers-like accident during one of the training exercises.  I was shocked… and a little impressed by the fact that they did that.  I’m not sure if I’ll continue to collect this – Marvel’s lost a bit of their luster for me, lately – but I’ll probably give it another couple of issues to see where it goes.
    • Justice League of America #7 – For all my opinions about JLA #6 and that it was what the new direction was all about… I was wrong.  It was this issue.  The latest incarnation of the JLA finally – officially – came together as a team.  One member finally “graduated” to the senior class.  One potential member shared a possibly dangerous secret with a former teammate.  And there even may be a romance in the offing.  And, the last two pages seem to be tie-in with some pages from Justice Society of America, setting up the upcoming crossover: Lightning Storm – an arc that will unify the legacies of the JLA, and the JSA with the Legion.
    • Supergirl #16 – Finally.  FINALLY!!!  We now see why it is that Little Miss Argo is so messed up.  It’s an interesting look at the introduction of the Phantom Zone, from the point of view of Zor-El, brother of Superman’s father, Jor-El.  There is still a little bit to go to unravel full mystery of Kara’s psyche, but we’re finally on the yellow brick road.  Next stop: Oz.  Or the Fortress of Solitude.  Or somewhere.  But, even with all of this… this is probably the weakest issue of the week.  The weak?  (The strangest of the strange?  The queerest of the queer…  Do do do do-do-dooo)
    • Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #28 – The new/latest Dominator war comes to a head.  The Legion and the Wanderers square off against the Dominators’ armies.  The teams are splintered.  And battered.  And definitely on the thin edge of the wedge.  Not to mention Cosmic Boy and Triplicate Girl are both subjected to some fairly brutal torture – at one point, I wondered if Trip would be changing her name; it would have been a very interesting twist on the original story.  And, was that Polar Boy with The Wanderers (Threeboot)?!
    • Superman #661 – A Superman/Wonder Woman story… featuring Lois Lane.  You’d think that with two of the three members of DC’s trinity in the story, Lois might get overshadowed.  Nope.  Granted, she doesn’t have a lot of “screen time,” but she does hold her own with Clark and Diana.  It was an interesting one-off story, but far from a “bad” one.
    • Superman/Batman #33 – This issue was the wrap-up of what I’m referring to as the “Black Rock Invasion.”  I was a little surprised at how quickly/tidily the story concluded.  In fact, it included a plot hole that was large enough to pilot a Khundian battlewagon through.  And given that hole, one wonders if there’s a way to bring a certain Infinite Crisis villain back to the fore in the DCU…  Hmm.  Not a horrible story, but possibly the second-weakest of the week.  On the plus side, though, it did show an interesting side of the Bruce/Clark relationship and it also showed a more light-hearted Bruce Wayne than we’ve seen in recent years.

    Scales of Justice
The Hand of Nefer-Tem took to the streets – and sewers – of Paragon City last night.  The objectives: Follow-up on the missing Kheldians… and hit Level 20.  Both objectives were accomplished.  It also turned out that the Kheldian mission was the last of that storyline.

I trained up to Level 20 and got my new power: Black Dwarf.  This means a new form and six new powers.  I didn’t test them out; I’ll do that this evening.

    Sunday – 01 April 2007
Okay, let’s go ahead and get this out of the way:  It was April Fools’ Day!  And, with that in mind: Top 100 April Fools’ Day Hoaxes of All Time.  There.  Now, we’re done.  Let’s continue…

Today was sunny and bright (for the most part).  I spent the first part of the morning/afternoon creating a giant mess of comics in the middle of my office floor.  I was boxing/reboxing some of my more recent acquisitions.  After that, I decided to get out and play in the sunshine for a bit.  First stop: REI.  Thanks, to the , I am now the proud owner of a set of golf clubs.  I think that he got a new set and rather than take the dual-wield skill, he gave me his old set.  Now all that I need to do is learn how to ruin a good walk.  Any takers?  From there, I headed to Jitterbug for lunch and chat with Bruce and company.  Next, I stopped at ‘ to drop off his paintball gear and to pick up some game books.

Back home for a bit before heading to catch a movie with .  Tonight’s fare:

…based on one of my favorite books, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, by Dan Millman.  Being an adaptation, there were a number of things that the movie had to omit, but they left the heart of the book in it.  Scott Mechlowicz seemed to portray Dan Millman well and I felt that Nick Nolte was an excellent choice to play Socrates.  I recommend the movie almost as highly as I recommend the book; I plan to purchase the DVD when it is released.

     Four-Color Coverage
Yesterday, I mentioned the Legion of Substitute Heroes.  This afternoon, I came across the following while going through my collection:

Yesterday’s Legion toon episode did not include Fire Lad (on the left) or Polar Boy (second from the right), but it had the rest.  And they were played to just about the same amount of comic effect as they were in the books.

And now, for something not-so-different, let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the four-color press for the past couple weeks:

    • 52: Weeks Forty-Six and Forty-Seven – Closing the “One Year Later” gap.  We’re shown scenes that set the stage for the upcoming crossovers “World War III” and “Countdown.”  The issues had a couple of good scenes, but on the whole felt just… mediocre.
    • Action Comics #847 – This was something of a filler issue, I think to help Geoff Johns and Richard Donner get their finalè to their Last Son storyline finished up.  This was a “Kents in Spaaaaaace!” issue, featuring Clark and Jonathan.  I didn’t remember that Dwayne McDuffie was slated to write this issue… but I usually like his work.  This issue was no exception.  The issue also featured the artwork of Renato Guedes.  I am not familiar with his work; he drew a great cover, but it will take a while for his style to grow on me as interior art.
    • Black Panther #26 and Fantastic Four #544 – Reed and Sue take a leave of absence from the team to work out their issues.  But, since “The Fantastic Two” doesn’t inspire the same feel as “Fantastic Four” – and since the remaining two would fight each other almost as much as they would fight bad guys -  they called in a couple of substitute members: The Black Panther and Storm.  The duo fit in nicely – T’Challa takes on the leader/scientist role comfortably while Ororo falls easily into the nurturing mother/voice of reason role.  It was also interesting to watch the New FF interact with Uatu, The Watcher.  The encounter reminded me of the  Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode, “Q-Less,” where Q came to the station and expected Captain Sisko to treat him the same as Captain Picard had.  (Hint: Sisko didn’t.  Likewise, T’Challa didn’t deal with Uatu as Reed had.)
    • The Brave and the Bold #1 and #2 – DC returns this team-up title to its regular lineup after a LONG hiatus.  With Mark Waid on story and George Perez on pencils, they hit the ground running.  The first issue opens with Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Batman discovering twin alien corpses… with matching wounds.  One in space… one in the Batcave.  The trail leads to Vegas and then to outer space, so the heroes split up and take on new partners as they follow the leads.  Issue #2 opens with Green Lantern and Supergirl heading to Ventura (imagine a planet-sized Las Vegas), while Batman and the new Blue Beetle continue on the Earth-side investigation.  Waid’s writing is sharp (I’m going to miss him on LSH) and Perez’ artwork is as clean and crisp as ever.
    • City of Heroes #18Ms. Liberty and her other-dimensional doppelganger, Dominatrix, Minx, and LuminarySwan go out for a night on the town.  And it’s not long before a fight ensues.  Being Paragon City, it’s a super-powered cage match.  We also see Ms. Liberty and Dominatrix learn something about each other… and themselves.
    • Elephantmen #8 – This was a good story of a battle-hardened soldier who’s trying to adjust to life after war.  We are introduced to Trench, another of the Elephantmen, who is a no-nonsense, take charge and take no prisoners zebra.  We meet him in the middle of a gunfight.  And we get to watch him work.

    • I just found out that Garcia’s Pizza will be offering online domestic ordering soon.  I am not sure if this is a good thing (I haven’t had Garcia’s since I left Indiana) or a bad thing (cost).
    • If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the Halo 3 Announcement Trailer.  Selah.  *genuflect*

    And that’s good for now.
