HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

That’s not only to my Dad, but to the various father-figures who have influenced me.

It’s almost worktime again – time to make sure that the world’s mail gets delivered accurately and in a timely manner. Oh, yeah, did I mention “too little sleep last night?” I don’t think that I did. Of course, that means that the words of the day are “Coffee” and “Beans & Brews.” Can you say “Frozen Mocha with a double espresso shot,” boys and girls? I knew you could. Anyway… off to see the Wizard.

This journal entry was brought to you by the letters “R” and “H” and the number “2.”

And so it goes….

To quote Big Daddy Kane: “A Job Ain’t Nothing But Work”

It wasn’t a BAD day… all things considered… but it was “a day.” The network was down; the mail volumes were a *tad* higher than we expected; one of my managers was unavailable to answer questions I had; we had to keep people on overtime; the plants (mail facilities) were calling and asking “Why aren’t we getting results back on this mail” and “Where are the people?” *sigh* But it all worked out in the end.

Anyway, left there and went to Denny’s for a bite to eat with Jess (my gf) and a couple of friends, since they said that the bowling alley was dead tonight. I was actually looking forward to going bowling after work, but we did have a QUALITY mullet sighting at breakfast, so it was all good. Unfortunately, none of us had a camera. *shakes fist*

And while I’m thinking about it: Have you ever noticed peoples’ reactions to having to work overtime? It’s odd, when you think about it. You tell them that they are going to have to work x-number of extra hours and the collective groans and moans go out. Then comes the “Well, I can’t do anything about it, so I might as well suck it up and deal with it.” Then when it’s all said and done, they say “Okay, that wasn’t so bad.” And we won’t even go into the reactions when their paychecks come in and they want to see how much extra they made because of the O.T. I’ve been on both sides of this particular fence – having to call people for overtime and having to work overtime when I am not supervising – so I guess that I had a slightly different perspective about the whole thing.

That’s my 2ร‚ยข worth for now.

More later.

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down…

It’s my “Monday” and I’m about :30 from leaving for work. It’s a sunny day here, my girlfriend and most of our friends are off today… but I get to make sure that peoples’ mail gets where it’s supposed to go. All in all, though, it shouldn’t be too bad – it is a weekend and for the most part they are pretty quiet mailwise… unless one of the cities whose mail we process decides to get a burr in their saddle and do something “different.” Oh well. Of course, tomorrow is Father’s Day… Hmm, that could mean a slight increase in mail volume. *shrug*

“Hi-ho, hi-ho….” and all that goodness.

The End Is The Beginning Is The End

Just getting in from dinner @ my ex-gf’s. It was her, my gf, a friend of my ex, my “niece,” and her quasi-bf. May I also say: I’m VERRA happy that my current and former gf’s get along so well. It makes life so much easier. We had a nice spaghetti dinner and talked…. a lot…. a WHOLE LOT. Turns out that my ex’s friend is also from Maryland! We didn’t talk a lot about the homefront, but tended to talk about how “different” things are here in Utah than most other places we’ve been. We also talked about some IRC-related things and people and just a bunch of random things. I had fun; and it beat sitting at home watching TV or sitting in front of the computer just messing around.

6-1/2 hours later…. I find myself at home. Considering that tomorrow is my “Monday,” along with the fact that I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep over the past couple of nights, I *should* be seriously devoting some thought to getting into bed.

::: contemplates :::

Nah. Not yet. Not yet.

Went to Mallday. We ate at Asian Star; we’d gone there a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad place… but they don’t have Wonton Soup. Oh well, I guess you can’t have it all.

After that, came down to my gf’s parent’s to fix their puters. I don’t know what was “wrong” with them, but they are working now. I think that they were just being temperamental and moody… but they’re working now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now, we’re discussing the Disneyland trip coming up later this summer. I’d forgotten how much that these “vacation” things can cost. *sigh*

Woke up this morning…
…overslept for the gym :::grr :::
…ontime for Mallday, a weekly lunch with friends, which isn’t at the mall today.
…but, I did wake up, so it can’t be too bad.

I should be getting ready, but I am here, go figure. Of course, looking at the clock, I have ten minutes to get ready, so I’d better get a wiggle on.

More later.

It’s my “Saturday” and I don’t feel like doing anything. And it looks like I missed “Whose Line” AGAIN!!! :::grrr:::

Today has been rather lax:
Awakened by the phone @ 8:30 :::grrr:::
Went to the gym
Came home, took a shower and napped for 2 hours
Went to lunch
Sat (and still sitting) in front of the puter
