Saturday
I slept in until 11:30 this morning. I apparently needed the rest. It was nice. I’ll probably sleep in tomorrow, too.

After buying screws to replace the ones that were on the entertainment shelf cross braces, I put together a unit for the A/V stuff in the HCC. Now, if I could just find the damned power supply for my computer speakers… I also managed to get the Linux/mp3 computer back on the network. Next will be adding the G3.

came over this afternoon; she brought a dozen beignets. Tasty. After getting her laptop connected to the network, I worked with her on setting up a couple of auctions on eBay. She, and I went to dinner at TGIFridays. We had planned on eating and then watching fireworks. Yes, “Fourth of July” fireworks… on the Third. Go figure. We missed them.

We were heading to Cheers when we noted a fireworks display in the distance, so we stopped and watched them. We couldn’t hear the explosions, but the visuals were good. We didn’t eat “breakfast” as much as we snacked at Cheers tonight. But we had a good bit of fun.

Tomorrow (or I guess that would be “today”): Spider-Man 2.

But for now: Sleep.

Friday
It was an all-around good day. It even included a cup of frozen mocha goodness… and that was even better because it was free.

Work wasn’t bad, either. dropped by because she needed some pictures taken for some auctions she wants to run.

Traditional Friday night coffee and dinner with an abbreviated group of the usual suspects was good. And fun. And funny. hit me with a mental image that I wasn’t expecting… and I, in turn, hit with one that she didn’t see coming.

  • From SearchWin2000.com comes IE – A hard habit to break
  • From Wikipedia: The Salamander Letter
I first heard of this a few months ago from Nyx, Nox and a couple of others. I believe that I sat their slackjawed as they told me about it.

  • Thanks to for pointing out: Gilligan’s Island and the Seven Deadly Sins
  • Nyx just pointed out that Han and Leia’s pose on this poster is the same as Rhett and Scarlett’s pose on this poster. Who knew?!
  • Jennifer Garner as Elektra (from the upcoming movie)
  • I don’t wanna grow up…
    I’m a Toys ‘R’ Us kid!

  • When we lived in the apartment, Jess and I would use AOHell Instant Messenger to forward URLs… or just to send silly messages… to each other. Now that we’re in the house and our computers are separated by two floors (and the fact that she now has a new phone with text messaging), I’m getting emails and text messages from her. And I still get the occasional instant message. Yep, we’re geeks.

  • Halle Berry has held the #2 slot (behind Tyra Banks) in my “Three Outs” list for some time now. But it seems that I might have to remove her from the list altogether. (And not just for the Catwoman debacle-in-waiting, either.) It seems as though Ms. Berry has started to walk the road to divadom:

    Halle Storms Off
Halle Berry will not be back for a third X-Men movie because her character, Storm, isn’t going to be in it enough. The sexy star apparently sees no reason to go back to playing the sidekick when she’s just played the superhero star in Batman spin-off Catwoman. ‘Halle was ready to do X-Men 3, but only if Storm was given more storyline,’ says our source. ‘But the studio sees the third movie as a means to wrap up the trilogy, and that means Storm won’t be featured more than Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Halle has now passed on the third movie because she’s not into bit-parts. She’s an Oscar winner and she wants roles that test her.’ Producers are now looking to singer and actress Christina Milian as a possible replacement.’

I’m starting to get tired.
I should start giving sleep-preparations a consideration.
Or maybe I’ll have something to snack on.
Or something to drink.
Decisions, decisions.

Thursday
Today was a good day. I may be biased since I had a cup of frozen mocha goodness with a double shot. Or maybe because I went to Mallday (a day early). Or because I talked with the parental units. Or because the verdammt DSL modem finally arrived.

Or all of the above.
Or the reason below.

After work, came over and cooked us dinner! (Thank you!) We had pork chops with a red wine sauce, carrots marinated in balsamic vinegar, basmati rice and a salad with lettuce, pears, toasted almonds and gorgonzola cheese. She also brought over a bottle of merlot to go with it. It was very good.

Wednesday
I am just getting back from the Rush 30th Anniversary Tour concert. I am quite happy: Three hours of excerpts from thirty years of music. It was a lot of fun. Thanks again, to and his brother for the invitation.

News and Stray Toasters will return tomorrow.
