Stardust

Based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, this is another story that comes under the heading of “modern fairy tale.”

The movie tells the story of Tristan Thorn and his quest to bring home a fallen star to win the heart and hand of his beloved.  I know that this is going to sound like a bit of a cop-out… but to tell you much more about the story beyond what I stated above would be telling too much.

I can say that the story – and the way that it was presented – was quite simply… magic.  The acting, the casting, the costuming, the sets and scenery… all of it… was great.  Charlie Cox did an excellent job of bringing Tristan to life.  Claire Danes was great as Yvaine, the fallen star.  Michelle Pfeiffer was delightful as the witch, Lamia.   And then there’s Robert DeNiro, with a little bit of what you expect… and a lot of what you never saw coming.

I will most likely see this again in the theatre… and will definitely be adding it to the DVD collection, when it is released.

All-in-all, I can’t recommend this movie enough.  Go see it.  Take friends.  Take family.

But most of all… enjoy.
