Wednesday : 10 August 05
Aside from waking up (after too little sleep), today has been rather painless. The day was rather nondescript.

News
There was an item of interest in the local news: A semi, loaded with 17½ tons of explosives, crashed and exploded on Highway 6, in Utah County. This would be the same Highway 6 that I traveled when I was going to Moab this past Fall and Winter. The explosion left a crater roughly 30 feet deep and 70 feet in diameter and it also destroyed sections of nearby railroad track. Despite all of this damage and destruction, no one was killed. The New Adventures of Bolty – Novice Superhero at Large
I have a new user icon:

I thought that I was going to have to sacrifice one of my existing icons in order to save this one. I was mistaken. I can live with that.

Don was online, so we took on one of his missions. We got our asses handed to us. Silver platters and all. We did beat the mission, but it whaled the tar out of us. A couple of times.

After that, I was looking forward to a (relatively) relaxing stroll through The Hollows. I wound up accepting an invitation to join a team – and go on a mission – just before I got to the entrance to The Hollows. The mission was to eliminate some “Clockworks” (Think: Wind-up mechanical robots) from an office building. Simple enough… but the game balances out your mission opponents based on the composition of the group. Highbeams (the other character) and I were both Blasters. Which is apparently another word for “target dummy.” We were smacked around eight ways from Sunday. So, High called for some more bodies. Unfortunately, she got more Blasters. Not good. There was more dying… on our side. *sigh* Another call for reinforcements went out. We got a couple of othere Archetypes, but no healers. A healer would have been nice. I think that I died three or four times before we cleared the mission.

The experience points were good; but I could have done without the XP debt – of which I have roughly 1100 points. *sigh*

Stray Toasters

  • I shall be in bed by (what I deem to be) a reasonable time tonight.
  • It’s said that everyone has a doppelganger.
What happens when yours shows up on your doorstep?
    …and he’s a superhero from another reality.
…and his arch-enemy… is that reality’s version of your girlfriend.

  • This may sound callous, but: Peter Jennings was a good newscaster. Did ABC really have to air a two-hour episode of ABC News honoring him?

It’s amazing what slips through the cracks in your memory when you don’t write things down. Oh, well. They will either come back to me or they won’t.

Either way, I’m going to sleep.

Namaste.
