Thursday
UGH. I was right. Today kicked me squarely in the glutes. A couple of times.

I have determined that there are laws that I like and those that I do not. One of the “nots” involves a certain Mr. Murphy and his “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong” law. Okay, not everything went wrong, but enough of them did that it made the workday less than pleasant. One more day left and then four days off while Adam is here. Yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel… and it’s not attached to a train.

Song of the Day

  • Come Down in Time by Elton John or the Sting cover from the “Two Rooms” CD.
  • Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by Sting (and the Police) or the cover done by Shawn Colvin (Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic)
  • Shotgun Down the Avalanche by Shawn Colvin or the Maura O’Connell cover.

Stray Toasters

  • The new commercial for beef is funny: A couple is awaiting dinner in a restaurant. Cut to a waiter exiting the kitchen, beef entrees in hand. Cue the music (Aaron Copland’s “Rodeo”) The waiter goes to another table… and the music dies out. Cut to the orchestra, in the restaurant, holding their instruments at rest. Cut to another waiter exiting the kitchen. He stops at the couple’s table… and the music starts again, triumphantly.

    Beef. It’s what’s for dinner.

  • I got to fly my kite for a little bit today. That helped to take a little bit of the edge off of the work day.
  • I was watching a late night airing of the syndicated version of The Weakest Link. I think that it would be amusing to see someone vote themselves off the game as the “weakest link.” Assuming that they weren’t voted off by other players, I think that they would really throw a curve at their competitors and the host; it would raise more than a few eyebrows.
  • Halo. Nothing says “I’m a glutton for punishment” like getting yourself killed many times and then going back for more.
  • I saw a Bank of America commercial during Law & Order last night; apparently, the local NBC affiliate didn’t preempt the national feed. Why I find this interesting: I bank with BoA… and there isn’t one in Utah.
  • Creepy Susie and 13 other tragic tales for troubled children
  • Billy the Dead Boy And, if someone feels the overwhelming urge to buy a maggot doll for me, I can guarantee it a good home.

And that, as they say, is that.

Namaste.
