Saturday (abbreviated)
I spent most of the day cobbling together a new computer. Zaq came over to help me set up FreeBSD on it. There were a number of hardware “complications,” so I’ll be spending some time looking at what went not-so-right and what I’ll have to do to get things into working order.

I had dinner with and , then we came back here and hung out before Nyx and I headed to bowling. The three of us chatted, talked geek… and we compiled the “Who Has More Reasons to be Jealous of Whom” list:

Then, it was off to bowling; Kevin (the new guy) met us there. showed up a little later. I bowled eleven games; I think that my high score was 165, but I’ll verify that later. On to breakfast… Staci, Pat and Brent put in appearances. We talked about embarrassing teacher stories, laughed way too much and created lots of new in-jokes.

And then the evening came to a close.

Tomorrow, I’m not sure what I’m doing during the day; tomorrow night we travel to the home of and his missus for the rematch of the Cleveland-Baltimore game. This time, I’ll remember to eat something before indulging (or is that “inflicting”) penalty shots.

Stray Toasters

  • The new take on Victor Freis, Mr. Freeze on the new KidsWB cartoon The Batman, seems… wrong. One of the things that made Mr. Freeze such a good villain – and a tragic character – was his origin. In the new cartoon, he was just a crook with an obsession… and it cost him dearly. I think that they could have done better with this one.

Tonight’s Justice League Unlimited got Batman dead to rights. It was a rerun of “This Little Piggy,” and in it, Batman… sings. Good episode.

  • Returning the odd stares of restaurant patrons.
  • “Old Ironballs.”
  • Faking it.
  • I think that Nyx broke Kevin’s head with a couple of comments.
  • How many high-school-aged girls does it take to bowl one frame?
  • I still “hear” Eric Cartman singing Come Sail Away when radio stations play the Styx version. And, I still laugh.
  • Cats make poor “helpers” when building a computer.

Quote of the Day
“Help control the college population: Have your college student spayed or neutered.”

Namaste.
