Monday
The day started with a visit from ‘s dad. He came over to help me “winterize” the swamp cooler. I’ll be glad when we can make the switch to central air… It’s been a few months since I’ve been on the roof; it’s a great view. We’ve talked about building a new deck in the back yard, possibly one that will afford an almost roof-like view of the valley. We shall see…

We ran a couple of errands and, on a whim, decided to see…

I have a new addition to my favorite superhero movies list. This was part 60s James Bond-like thriller, part superhero action flick… and all cool. I give it a “thumbs-up with an okay.” Go see it if you haven’t already. And if you have, see it again. The trailers for Cars and Episode III: RotS showed before the movie; they looked good on the big screen. No, on the “Super Screen;” we saw The Incredibles on the Cricket Theatre Super Screen (the screen that would have been an IMAX screen, if Larry Miller hadn’t been too cheap to pay for the licensing). And the Pixar short before the movie, Boundin’, was hilarious.

Tonight was Poker Night. And, if you can believe it: We actually played poker. , , , and played. Twas a good night.

Stray Toasters

  • Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon.

  • Broken Frontier got a face lift. It looks good. And today featured the first of a five part article: The Poor Man’s Guide to Self Publishing
  • Presto is sleeping, draped across my left wrist. It’s cute, but makes typing… interesting.
  • By way of Something Awful: Jeff’s First Date A prime example of the dangers of meeting your imaginary Internet boyfriend…

    YES!!!

  • “What a bargain! What a bargain for me!” (with apologies to Eddie Murphy)
I find this “deal” amusing: 6000 White Laser Labels + 3pc Luggage Set $6 after $44MIR

  • Tasha Yar
    Yar’s Revenge
    Revenge of the Sith

  • There’s something about The Marcels’ Blue Moon that makes me want to bounce. In a good way. That could be why it’s called “An oldie, but a goody.” Cybil Shepard also did a slow, almost torch song version of it on Moonlighting, many rains past. I liked that version, too. I think that it was one of the reasons that I bought the show’s soundtrack.
  • “The Merry Misadventures of Wombat & Space Commando!”
  • The Bobby Darin fan in me is looking forward to the release of Beyond the Sea.
  • The Sydney Bristow Home Disquise KitTM
  • “Is that Lord Vader?”
    “Sure looks like him.”

Quote of the Day
“Mm-hmm. That’s right, here in Chocolate Town.”

Namaste.
