Today marked Day 2 of the Park City Kimball Arts Festival. And I was there. Again. Along with , Leah, and .

We met at Cisero’s for brunch. Unfortunately, Cisero’s was not serving their brunch today. Instead, we ordered from their lunch menu. As usual, the food was very good. But, I still would have preferred their brunch. Although, we determined that serving brunch would not have been economically sound for them, especially with the festival going on: People would come in, pay a flat rate and eat like kings and queens. Instead, by making patrons eat from the regular menu, the potential per-customer profit could be higher.

After brunch, we strolled up and down Main Street. Two of the artisans recognized me from yesterday. (That’s kind of cool.) and I chatted with one, Audrey Heller, for ten or fifteen minutes. I have also decided that I am ordering two of her prints. I would have liked to have brought at least one of them home from the festival, but unfortunately I was not paid a visit by the Free Money Fairy. So, I’ll wait. I believe that I should be able to get them next week.

The rest of the festival was very cool. There were many things that I would have liked to have brought home. Damned skipping-out-of-town Free Money Fairy! But, I collected a number of the artists’ cards and will visit their websites and see if there is anything that catches my eye… And, once again: I ran into someone that I know while there. This year, it was Rebekah, one of my coworkers. This means that I’m three-for-three (three years running) for running into an acquaintance at the Arts Festival.

We came back to Salt Lake and spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home.

The Adventures of Bolty – Novice Superhero at Large   (Thanks to !)
I made a trip to Paragon City. Today’s gaming was fruitful… despite the fact that I died at least twice. I blew through Security Level 10 and am currently about 2/3 of the way to Level 12. And, of course, that means: two-and-a-half levels to Security Level 14. And Flight!

I soloed a few street gangs for a while, but then I got into a group and took on a few missions. And died a couple of times. But, it was worth it. And, more importantly: I had fun. And that’s what it’s all about.

A few nights ago, while part of a team, I followed a teammate to Icon – where every hero who’s any shops. She was going in for a new costume. My Security Level is not high enough to afford another costume, but I decided to make some modifications (1, 2) to my existing one. I traded in the tights for leather added a design on the top, and changed the boots. It’s not too different, but it’s enough to make me happy.

Stray Toasters

  • It’s a common fact that I am not a fan of modern Country music. I do, however, like some older Country & Western music, but the new stuff…? Pablum.

I (finally) got around to checking out a CD that came with an issue of Sports Illustrated from last year. On the CD was a song by country singer Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet called: It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere. Imagine my surprise to find that I liked it. I had a difficult time reconciling that until I realized something: It sounds enough like a Jimmy Buffet song that it makes up for the fact that Mr. Jackson is a country singer.

Garth Brooks, on the other hand, has yet to make up for destroying Aerosmith’s Fever, by turning it into a song about a rodeo. *boggle*

  • Former ABC news anchor Peter Jennings has died of lung cancer. He was 67. I will always remember him for the broadcast of the Challenger explosion in 1986. I remember him sitting at the news desk saying:

“We want to show you footage of the Space Shuttle Challenger blowing up. Well, we don’t want to show you, but here it is…”

It’s rare that you see a news anchor rattled by the events that he is reporting, but it was very obvious that he was not completely poised and composed while recounting this item.

  • The Xbox Auteurs – Xbox as an indie movie studio
  • From reading JSA: Classified #1, I think that they may be setting up the continuity-screwed-over Power Girl (1, 2, 3) as the new Andromeda in the Legion.
  • I seen a peanut stand
    And heard a rubber band
I seen a needle that winked it’s eye
But I been done seen about everything
When I see a elephant fly

That’s it for now. Sleepiness has set in… and I don’t plan on falling asleep at the keyboard. Again.

Namaste.
